Prairie Dogs are full-bodied and robust rodents, and there are 5 varieties of them: Black-tailed, White-tailed, Gunnison's, Mexican and Utah. They vary in size and color combinations, and can be found all the way across the USA. The body length averages 11 to 13 inches, and weight measures 1.5-3 lbs. Prairie Dogs produce characteristic barking sounds, which earned them the name. Prairie Dogs are herbivorous, and they reside in hollows.
