Guinea Name Pig Scientific

  -

picture, bird

The exact origin of this term is still an unsolved etymological problem. One of the main theories of its origin is that the term may come from Guineamen, who were in the slave trade and may have been the first to bring the animals from South America to England. However, there are other versions, but no distinctness. Cavia porcellus was known for many centuries and was even one of the food sources for the Incas who also attributed healing powers to the species. Nowadays, they live in countries of South America and their habitats include grasslands, rocky areas, and areas near forests. In captivity, these animals live 4-6 years. The guinea name pig scientific information and picture can be found on most guinea sites and is not to be confused with the bird.
