Guinea Pig Habitat

A guinea pig habitat should be small and provide for all the necessities of living; try to find a photo or picture of what a closed environment looks like. These animals are easy and not expensive to handle. As they are social animals it is better to buy at least two of them, because one animal will get lonely. These creatures should be of the same sex, if you donít want to have more animals than you can handle. Generally there are many different kinds of these animals, such as Abyssinian, shaggy, shelties, silky satins and many others, and if it is not so important for you, than forget it, what you need when choosing an animal is a short haired one. In the wild, these animals inhabit long grass or abandoned burrows. In captivity, these rodents should be kept in spacious cages. They are rather active and like to run around at great speed and that is why they need room to do this. A cage of one foot by one foot for each cavy will be sufficient. A flat wooden tray about 2 feet wide by 3 feet long with a side all around at least 8 inches high will be a great play room. Of course, you can buy a special, multi-layer, super stacking, wonder house, but it will be rather expensive. A guinea pig habitat should be small and provide for all the necessities of living; try to find a photo or picture of what a closed environment looks like.
