Caring For A Guinea Pig

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Caring for a guinea pig is easier than you think; find good photos of babies because they're so cute. These animals belong to the rodent family. An average live span of these creatures is 4-7 years. In the wild they run for cover when startled or threatened that is why a shelter in their cage where they can seek safety should be provided. Litter sizes range from 1 to 6 young. The young are unusually large and fully furred when they are born. They can walk about from birth and also have teeth and open eyes. The young should be allowed to nurse their mother for at least 2 weeks. Young cavies become sexually mature at about 60 or 70 days. photos, babies

It is very easy to keep these animals. Unlike other pets, they donít need to go out daily and they can be left alone for the whole day unlike dogs. They also donít sleep the whole day, unlike hamsters and some other small rodents. These animals also eat little unlike rabbits for example. Choosing a cavy, be attentive and try to choose a healthy one. Observe the behavior of the animal and examine the animalsí appearance as well. A healthy cavy should have bright eyes and clear ears and nose, and should have shiny, silky fur all over including under the bottom. Caring for a guinea pig is easier than you think; find good photos of babies because they're so cute.
