These animals are rather vocal. They have a fairly large vocabulary. When they wheek, it means that they are hungry, or need attention, or may be they are hurt. It is a kind of clicking noise meaning that the animal is annoyed. Sometimes they use this “Wheek” noise to find other cavy if they are in a run. A lost cavy may “wheek” for assistance. "Popcorning" is a loud variant of "wheek." This noise is accompanied by a hop, either high or short. A “popcorning” cavy is full of energy, or is very pleased. Hear guinea pig sounds and look at pictures of this rodent on a dynamic pet reference website.
