When in need of a bath, guinea pig owners, aviaries with non-water birds and other animal owners should research carefull as to how to proceed. Trim the animalís nails about every six weeks. If you have some doubts or just hesitate, consult a vet or knowledgeable person for instructions. It is also very important to keep these animalsí teeth from growing too long. There should always be a piece of hard wood in the cage for these animals to chew. These are intelligent animals that will learn to perform the tricks quickly. When keeping these small rodents, do not forget to provide them with care such as bathing and grooming. Bathe them twice a year in warm water with a shampoo that is sold at pet stores, do not use soaps or shampoos designed for people. Bathing your cavy, line a sink with a towel or rag and bathe the animal in a sink half full of lukewarm water. After bathing, rinse the animal thoroughly and dry with a towel. You can also use a hair dryer set to a warm setting.
