Black Foot Ferret
A black foot ferret is seen in pictures and sometimes mistaken for a rodent.
They are very playful and very vocal. Their alarm call is a loud chatter, they hiss to show agitation or fear and make whimpering sounds to encourage their young to follow. As an endangered species, it is against the law to own one as a pet.

These animals are the most endangered mammal in North America. The main cause is loss of habitat. Dissappearing grasslands, prairie dog eradication programs and sickness have reduced their population to less than 2% of what once existed.
