Chinchilla pet care needs to be learned before you acquire one; some farms may have them for sale; a farm won't usually have one though.
These animals need a water bottle with ball bearing sipper tube. They are vegetarians and eat mostly hay, fruits such as apples and bananas. As these animals live in a cool climate in the wild their cages should be located out of strong direct sunlight.

The cage of these animals should be no smaller than a 3’x3’x4 with a galvanized droppings pan. Powder-coated metal cages are rather safe. Being domestic, these animals should also have some wooden stuff to chew. It is necessary to clean the cage every two days.
